Cartwright Engineering has recently been selected to perform structural engineering services for the historic First Security Bank Headquarters building. First Security Bank built this unique "International Style" high-rise office building in the early sixties. In an effort to capture Federal lease clients in an area located in congested downtown Salt Lake City, the building owner desires to upgrade the structure to resist current regulated seismic-induced lateral forces. Lateral-resistance modifications are difficult to achieve in any existing building but to retro-fit additional lateral capacity in a high-rise environment is especially difficult.
